what is a christmas cookie “hockey stick”?

Historically, 15% to 20% of total giving to our annual Staff Cookie Stash (SCS) budget occurs in December, with 10% of all treats brought to the office during the last week. This giving pattern forms a “hockey stick” when plotted on a graph. To meet anticipated 2009 sugar intake, the Bethlehem staff needs to receive about 14 dozen more cookies in the last three weeks of December. As we skate toward the end of our fiscal year, pray that God gives us hearts that respond cheerfully, generously, and wisely to the many baking opportunities around us, remembering that “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
Contribution Reminders
- December 31 is the deadline for having your cookie contributions credited to your 2009 donations. They must either be postmarked or hand-delivered to the church no later than December 31.
- All 2009 SCS contributions over and above the needed 2009 sugar amount will be applied to the Executive Minister’s Birthday Cake Fund.

It sounds like your workplace has more cookies than some. My husband took a plate of goodies into work yesterday and the secretary told him that he didn’t need to eat any of them since he had more at home. (And he didn’t dare.) The sweets were gone by lunch time.
We are overflowing with donations again. It’s quite a spike in the year’s trends. Come by today if you want and enjoy some! Otherwise I’ll bring some to your home.
